Raise money by talking to merchants you know

Published on 6/9/2015
The Village is planning our first ever fundraising gala, "Mardi Gras in September" and we have a great need for services to auction off before and during the event.

The kinds of items we are looking for are dinner for two with a glass each of wine at your favorite restaurant; a wash and set (or haircut) from your hairdresser; a one-hour massage from your masseuse; two free yoga lessons from your yoga studio; one free session with your personal get the idea.
But here's the catch, we need YOU to ask these folks to donate. They know you. They like you. They want to keep your business.
We'll provide a script and all the paperwork you need, which is not much. All you need to do is ask the people you spend money with all the time to help you support your favorite charity, FBWE Village.
And because we are an IRS-designated non-profit, in most cases, their donations will be tax deductible as charitable contributions. Even better, it's a chance for them to attract new customers into their business. And their business will be recognized in the Gala program for all these potential customers in their neighborhood to see.
A few Villagers have already signed up to help, if we could get just 10 more folks each to ask 3 or 4 people they do business with for a donation of services, we could meet our goal.
Please be one of those 10 people. If you can help in this effort, contact Myrna Fawcett.
