We’re holding the FBWE Village’s first major fundraising event on Sept. 12 at the Field School in Northwest Washington. It’s called “Mardi Gras in September – And All That Jazz.”
There’s going to be great New Orleans-style appetizers – lots of them – along with drinks and music. It should be lots of fun. And for those who don’t drive, there will be free transportation to and from the event.
Even better, while we are having a good time, we’ll be raising money for the Village, which brings direct benefits to each of us and to so many others in our very own neighborhood.
How will we raise money? By getting donations from local businesses and other institutions; by selling tickets to the event and tickets for a raffle and other items; by auctioning time in vacation homes and hotels, dinners in local restaurants and other local services; by selling tickets to salons in Village member homes where you’ll have the opportunity to meet and talk to fascinating DC people you read about or see on TV all the time.
Many other Villages have tried this fundraising strategy with a great deal of success, so while this is a new thing for us, it’s not new for our kind of organization.
As co-chairs, we hope you’ll join us in the fun on Sept. 12.
If you really want to make this a success, join us and many of other Villagers in planning and putting on this Gala. Many hands, as they say, make light work. Contact us to volunteer. Make sure to provide your name, phone number, email address and the type of committee you would like to serve on.
See you Sept 12, and laissez les bon temps rouler.
