New Member Celebration at Ris
The Village’s first “official” event – a new member celebration at Ris restaurant on April 27 — was a well-attended delight. The Village came to life as 80 people greeted both current and new neighbors, enjoyed a delectable variety of hors d’oeuvres, sweets, and beverages, and learned about recent Village developments.“The event yesterday was a great tribute to the Village leadership and planners,” said Tish Gardner, a new member. “I had the feeling the Village is already a success and more people are going to join because they can see the reasons for belonging to this vibrant group.”
Membership co-chair and Board member Jackie Lemire had these observations:
“There were lots of people talking to each other in groups that ebbed and flowed; many compliments on food and drink (Ris and her staff did a great job); and, importantly, lots of discussions about the Village, people’s hopes and expectations, and a feeling of confidence that the Village is going to be a great success.”
Many thanks to Joe Del Balzo of The Country Vintner for donating the Proseco. Congrats to Pat Kellogg and Leslie Woolf who won the door prizes – gift certificates donated by Circle Bistro.
Membership co-chair and Board member Lorna Grenadier told guests about monthly member gatherings that she and the Program Committee have planned between now and October, when the Village officially launches. These include a chef-led tour of Dupont Circle Farmer’s Market and a behind-the-scenes tour of the entertainment collections at the National Museum of American History.
