Villagers enjoy the History of Chocolate and select tastings
On Feb. 11th 15 Villagers ride-shared and braved the cold weather to attended a tour and tasting at the Dumbarton House. Surrounded by the ultimate comfort food, Villagers heard Joyce White, a food historian; give an engaging and informative lecture on the history of chocolate. They learned that chocolate is considered the food of the gods, a form of currency, and a luxurious delight for wealthy Europeans. Cadbury, Hershey and others were among the first to create an extraordinary variety of chocolates that are now an affordable treat with health benefits. Sampling the various types of chocolate in all its forms was an addition highlight for these active members.
