FBWEV Starts Their Balancing Act
On April 22nd, 13 members of FBWEV attended the first of 10 sessions conducted by Dr. Jason Dring, a physical therapist. The risk of falling assessment and classes are sponsored by the FBWEV Balance and Safety affinity group which has as its mission to improve our ability to balance and understand the environmental factors in reducing falls.
After a brief introduction and review of the course outline, Jason led the Villagers through a series of exercises to improve their balance, strength and flexibility. Each member was given a packet which included a log to record their balance progress. All participants were assessed for balance prior to starting, and the series will conclude with another assessment. FBWEV members made a strong start.
Foggy Bottom West End Village has organized a variety of affinity groups around various interests. These groups are self-directed by members and all interested members are welcome to join the groups and their activities.
