FBWEV Tours the Union Market
On Friday Villagers attended a private tour of Union Market led by Market Manager Neil Dundee. In addition to learning the history of the market buildings and area businesses, members also shopped among the stalls selling everything from fresh seafood, organic meats, specialty cheeses, ice creams, wines and more.
Chef John Mooney of the Market’s Bidwell Restaurant took us to his rooftop hydroponic garden, where he grows organic herbs, lettuces, tomatoes and other vegetables for a “roof to table” experience.
After gathering lunch from the many possible offerings, Villagers enjoyed conversation and comparing purchases. And to top it all off, we were treated to “goodie bags” of champagne vinaigrette, butterscotch pudding and a mini berry pie from Ris at the Market — the West End restaurant’s Union Market outpost.
