Villagers at our Meditation Workshop make space for silence
It was billed as a talk about Mindfulness Meditation, but for much of our afternoon gathering on August 7, all was quiet. Extremely quiet!
About 25 FBWE Villagers gathered to hear Beth Kanter, LICSW, explain mindfulness meditation. Those of us new to meditation practices were surprised to learn that mindfulness can be as easy as pausing to take deep breaths for 45 seconds several times a day.
To illustrate how you can jump right into mindfulness, Ms. Kanter led Villagers through several meditation exercises on the spot. Talking about their experience of sitting quietly for just a few minutes, many said they were so relaxed they nearly fell asleep. Others spoke of feeling deeply refreshed.
