Membership Renews and Grows
The Foggy Bottom West End Village had a lot to celebrate this year. Memberships grew 40% during our first year and 94% of the memberships were renewed, including several who chose to increase their annual membership from one to three years and individual members who were joined by their spouses.
In sharing experiences with other villages around the country, including almost 50 here in the DC Metro area, we appreciate that FBWEV is functioning at a level commensurate to villages of much longer standing. FBWEV provides a diverse array of programs and services, with 130 members and 75 volunteers, well beyond a typical one-year old village.
FBWEV is pursuing additional benefits and amenities for our members. We are encouraged by research demonstrating that villagers have healthier and happier lives than their non-village peers. A number of national news organizations such as CBS, NBC, PBS, the Washington Post, Forbes, and the New York Times have this past year also highlighted the value of villages to individuals’ well-being, regardless of income or locale.
As our Villagers share their enthusiasm with others, FBWE residents continue to join, whether they’re new to the neighborhood and eager to become part of the community, recently or soon-to-be retired exploring new activities and friendships, or seeking support for an unexpected health challenge.
We invite residents of all ages in Foggy Bottom West End to try out our Village life by participating in some programs or activities with a chance to meet individual Villagers. Village membership makes a wonderful gift – either for yourself or for a loved one. Please contact us for more details.
